Bio

Bora Baboçi (b. 1988, Tirana, Albania) is an artist whose practice weaves together spatial research and the visual arts. With a foundation in architecture from the University of Toronto and a master's degree from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, she spent some years working in architecture and exploring the built environment before channeling her work in an artistic practice through the mediums of drawing, painting and spatial intervention. Baboçi's work is informed by research into spatial traces and the intimate dimensions of human expression, hinting to reflections of a personal, social and existential scale. Her contributions to publications such as The Untold World and Home as a Showroom reflect her ongoing investigation into the themes of home, land, displacement and association, trying to create loose ties between the physical and immaterial dimension. She has exhibited in spaces such as Belmacz Gallery in London, Galerie Kandlhofer in Vienna, Galleria Fuori Campo in Siena, Suprainfinit Gallery in Bucharest, Bazament Space in Tirana, City Gallery of Pogradec, Art House in Shkodër; with her work also featured in collective exhibitions at the National Gallery of Albania, Art Encounters Biennale in Timisoara, Manifesta14 in Prishtina, Autostrada Biennale in Prizren, Mediterranea 19 Biennial in San Marino and EVA international Biennale in Ireland. Baboči has also attended various artistic residencies, including Art Explora in Paris and Salzburger Kunstverein in Austria.
